Mildred was my grandmother. As a child she gave me a book entitled ""The Fall of Freddie the Leaf."" In the story a leaf named Freddie is afraid of the changes he sees around him. He watches his friends fall from the tree to their death. Some fight the wind while others simply float down. As Freddie fell he looked up and realized that he was part of a large tree. As small as Freddie was, he had played a role in something much larger than he could have seen from his home on the branch. Freddie then knew his existence had served a purpose greater than he could have known. When Grandma gave me this book all those years ago, she never realized its message would speak to me upon her passing. The moral of the story is, never be afraid of living or dying. We all show different colors but we are all leaves of the same tree. We all fall to the earth and rise to the sky. Have a peaceful journey Grandma and know that because of your death, I have learned the importance of living. Love, Kris

Mrs. Goldthwait was a friend and neighbor when we lived across the street from her on Academy Place. She always had a smile for us kids when we were playing out in front of our house. I'll never forget her kind words to me when she attended both my father's and then my mother's funeral. I know she will be greatly missed, she was always a ball of energy everytime I saw her. I treasure the fond memories I have of her. My deepest sympathy and prayers to her family.

Please accept my sincere condolences in the loss of Mrs. Goldthwait. I wanted to share my thoughts at this time. Mildred was my supervisor in the carding department at Kemper Insurance in 1969-70. I was a young, newly separated single parent.I started my job at Kemper the day after my separation from my husband. I was scared and unsure of myself. But, under Mildred's guidance I started to bloom as a self-assured adult. I am happy to say that I have pursued a successful career outside the insurance field and have been in my current position for 31 years...but I honestly must say that without the guiding hand and understanding that Mildred offered to me at such a pivitol time in my life, I may not have been as successful as I am today. Mildred and your family will be in my prayers.Sincerely,Linda Delporte
