Obituary of Jennifer C. Thau

Jennifer C. Thau, 53, of Jamesville Passed away on Wednesday, 24 April 2024 at Upstate University Hospital after a short illness.

Despite being challenged by Cerebral Palsy, Jennifer lived a full and active life. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Syracuse University, she went on to earn a Master of Social Work degree, also at Syracuse University. She was employed as a customer service representative by National Government Services which is a Medicare contractor. Keeping a hand in social work, she also worked at Self Advocacy Association of New York, working with people with developmental disabilities. If that wasn’t enough, she served as Vice Chair of the Governor’s Developmental Disabilities Planning Council where she worked on programming and funding.

Jennifer was predeceased by her parents, Stewart and Cathy (Blaschke) Thau.

She is survived by her devoted partner of 30 years, Christine M. Keenan; her sister, Stephanie T. Anderson (Bryan Halstead) of Richmond, VA; her niece, Isabelle Anderson of Pittsburgh, PA and nephew Simon Anderson of Charlottesville, VA; her brother-in-law, Michael A. Keenan of Jamesville and many relatives and friends. And, of course, her beloved three dogs and four cats.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, May 11, 2024 at All Saints Church 1340 Lancaster Ave, Syracuse, NY 13210 at 1PM.

Friends and family are welcome at the Harrison Center, next door to the church, for a time of fellowship following Mass.

Burial was private.
