Obituary of Georgia A. Cates

Georgia A. Cates, 93, of Preble, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.  She was born and raised on a farm in LaFayette, NY.  After graduation from Central City Business Institute, she worked as a secretary in the School of Education at Syracuse University.  She married Raymond Cates and moved to Otisco Valley and became a devoted wife and mother.  She was a significant part of Co-Vale Holsteins.  Aside from the many duties as a farm wife, she was an amateur photographer.  Her spirit will live on in many photos she has left behind.  She loved the seasons making every holiday a special event.  Her small collection of US postage stamps and coins were very special to her.  A member and past elder of the Presbyterian Church of Otisco, she proudly did the church bulletin for over 45 years.  Georgia and her late husband enjoyed their winters in Florida.  Her many friends will remember her acts of Kindness.

She is predeceased by her husband, Raymond Cates.

Georgia is survived by her son, Bradley (Sarah) Cates.

Calling Hours will be Tuesday, January 30, 2024 from 4-7PM at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, LaFayette, NY.  Services will be Wednesday, January 31, 2024, 10AM at Otisco Presbyterian Church, 1873 NY-80, Tully, NY 13159. Spring burial will take place at Tully Cemetery, Tully, NY.
