Obituary of Helen Crouse

Helen Crouse, Turtle Clan member of the Onondaga Nation passed away in her home, May 5, 2003 at the age of 91. Helen was born April 22, 1912, the daughter of Livingston and Lillian (Green) Crouse. She was a life-long resident of the Onondaga Indian Reservation. She was an active member of the Onondaga Methodist Church where her father, Livingston, was minister for many years. She was a member of the Ladies Aid and held several offices within the church. She was a member of the North American Indian Club of Syracuse, the Temperance Society and a regular participant at Bob Cecil's Senior's Center. Her daughters, Doris Cronin, Beatrice Ferraro and Bernice Crouse survive her. Helen is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and her sister Julia Poodry; also many nieces and nephews. Friends are welcome to call Wednesday Evening, May 7, 2003, 6 - 9 p.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 4612 S. Salina Street, Syracuse, New York. A Memorial Service will be held at the Onondaga Methodist Church, Route 11A, Onondaga Nation, on Thursday, May 8, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be made to the Onondaga Methodist Church, Route 11A, Onondaga Nation.
