Obituary of A. Lou Stubits

A. Lou Stubits, 79, of "The Valley", Syracuse, New York died Monday, January 12, 2004 at Community General Hospital, Onondaga Hill, New York. Lou was born January 18, 1924 in Danielsville, Pennsylvania, the son of Mathias and Mary Stubits. He lived in Syracuse for the past 53 years. He retired from Carrier Corp. after 32 years. He was a member of the Valley Men?s Club, the American Legion Post 1468, the VFW #403, the Angler?s Association, a life member of the Elbridge Rod & Gun Club and was an honorary member of the Democratic Club in Pennsylvania. He was a avid woodworker and hunter. A veteran of WW II, he belonged to the 82nd Airborne Division. He received the Bronze Star for the Invasion of Normandy (D-Day). He also fought in the Invasion of Holland and the Battle of the Bulge. Lou is survived by his wife of 57 years, Anna Kutiansky Stubits; daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Mark Nash of Baldwinsville, New York; three grandchildren, Heather Nash of Strongsville, Ohio, Alexa Nash of Burlington, Vermont and Eric Nash of Baldwinsville, New York; six sisters, Rose Sedora, Mary Petko, Terry Eberhardt, Anna Tanczos, Aggie Marsh and Angela Lerch all of Pennsylvania; two brothers, Mathias Stubits and Leo Stubits both of Pennsylvania. Services: Friday, January 16, 2004, 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes, 300 Valley Drive, Syracuse where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by Father Thomas Fitzpatrick. Burial: Onondaga Valley Cemetery, 2500 Valley Drive, Syracuse. Calling Hours: Thursday, January 15, 2004, 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 4612 S. Salina Street, Syracuse, New York, 13205.
