Obituary of Evelyn M. Dempsey

Evelyn M. Dempsey, 77, of Syracuse, New York died Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at Van Duyn Home & Hospital, Onondaga Hill, New York. Evelyn was born July 25, 1926 in Cortland, New York, the daughter of Lester Sr. and Helen (Burns) Long. She was a graduate of Tully High School Class of 1944. She retired in 1988 as a Vice President at Key Bank after 29 years and was a member of their Key Club. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert J. Dempsey in 2003 and a daughter, Rebecca Anne Dempsey. Evelyn is survived by two daughters, Teresa Cherchio of Onondaga Hill, New York and Roberta Dempsey of Warners, New York; two sons, Michael J. Dempsey and Timothy J. Dempsey both of Syracuse, New York; two sisters, Rita Hartley of Pine City, New York and Aletha Crosley of Homer, New York; one brother, Lester Long Jr. of Barhamsville, Virginia; eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter. Services: Monday, January 19, 2004, 11:00 a.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc., Syracuse, New York with Father Raymond B. Wood officiating.
