Obituary of Betty Elizabeth Smith

Betty Elizabeth Smith, 81, of Westvale, New York died peacefully Saturday, November 13, 2004 at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, New York. Betty was born August 16, 1923 in Herkimer, New York, the daughter of Harry and Caroline (Schilling) Cook. She spent most of her youth and teens in the Buffalo, New York area. She moved to Syracuse, New York following her marriage and spent her early retirement years in Holiday, Florida, returning to Syracuse at the time of her granddaughter?s birth. Throughout her life, she remained dedicated and devoted to her family, her Lord and her church. She previously worked for Curtis Wright Aircraft during World War II, Dey Brothers from 1965 - 1970 and City/County Planning from 1970 - 1977. She was a very active member of Atonement Lutheran Church, a church Messenger worker and a member of their Jolly Dollies & Gents. She was a former member of the Elmwood Home Bureau. She enjoyed crafting and caring for her family. Betty is survived by her husband of 58 years, John L. Smith; one son, Steven J. Smith of Westvale, New York; one granddaughter, Holly Smith of Westvale, New York; several nieces and nephews. Services: Tuesday, November 16, 2004, in Atonement Lutheran Church, 116 W. Glen Avenue, Syracuse, New York. Burial: White Chapel Memory Gardens, Kinne Road, Dewitt, New York.
