Matilda J. "Tillie" Kniffin, 88, of Onondaga Hill, New York, died Sunday, February 6, 2005 at home. Matilda was born June 24, 1916 in Highland, New York, the daughter of William and Adelaide (Manning) Halstead. She was employed by Chemical Leaman Tank Lines, Dowingtown, Pennsylvania. She was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church and their Crafty Ladyes, Valley VIP's and the Onondaga Hill Seniors. She was an avid bowler, bowling in numerous leagues in Syracuse. She enjoyed making crafts and giving her projects to her church and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clow A. Kniffin, May 28, 1988. Tillie is survived by her daughter, Gail (John) Fursman of Horseheads, New York; two sons, Frank D. (Mary Beth) Kniffin of Syracuse, New York and William Kniffin of Syracuse, New York; four sisters-in-law, Olga Gray of Stone Ridge, New York, Lucille Cassa of Kingston, New York, Ruth and May Halstead both of Highland, New York; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
