Obituary of Emma C. Lawrence

Emma C. "Gig" Lawrence passed to her eternal rest on Friday July 1, 2005 at Van Duyn Home & Hopspital after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Emma was born August 25, 1919 in Syracuse, New York, the daughter of John and Emma (Gruner) Cogan. She graduated from Onondaga Valley Academy in 1938 and Syracuse Comptometer School. She was employed by General Electric during World War II and retired from Deluxe Checkprinters in 1981. She was involved with the Home Bureau and 4-H for many years and was a phenomenal cook. Emma was pre-deceased by her husband, Harold "Nick" Lawrence in 1968; her brothers, Fred, John and Peter Cogan and sisters Elizabth Cogan, Mildred Jennings and Anne Fiesinger. Gig is survivied by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda (Rick) DeMarchi; son and daughter-in-law, Reverend Larry (Jane) Lawrence; sister, Dorothy Rahrle; grandsons; Eric, Sean and Kristopher Kunai, Paul and Andrew Lawrence; granddaughters, Jessica Riley, Katherine Harris and Rebecca Lawrence; step-grandsons, Rick and Anthony DeMarchi; great-grandsons, Eric and Tyler Kunai, Zachary and Christopher Riley and Layden Harris; great-granddaughter, Ondraya Kunai; several nieces and nephews. Emma was greatly loved and will be missed by all. Graveside Service: Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at Onondaga Valley Cemetery, 2500 Valley Drive, Syracuse, New York.
