Obituary of Frederick W. Celke

Frederick W. Celke, 93, died Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at James Square Nursing Home, in Syracuse, New York where he was under the care of Hospice of CNY. Frederick was born August 25, 1911 in Germany, the son of William and Wanda (Jasman) Celke. He was a long-time resident of the Valley area on the south side of Syracuse. He spent 51 years as an executive in the bus transportation industry, first with the Greyhound Corp. and later with Syracuse & Oswego Coach Lines. He was a member of the original group that founded and established the Intercity Bus Association of New York State and served as its president from 1952-1959. He retired in 1980. Fred will be forever remembered for his great love and devotion to his family and friends as well as a lifetime of dedicated service to the Syracuse community. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Zena A. Celke, in 1999. Fred is survived by his son, Erick M. Celke of Syracuse, New York; his daughter, Alexandra C. Oleson of Waban, Massachusetts; and his sister, Ruth Hans of Berea, Ohio. Funeral service: Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 10:30 a.m. in Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Scranton Road at Seymour Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio.
