Obituary of Hedwig John Harriette" Rohner

Hedwig John "Harriette" Rohner, 94, of Syracuse, New York, died Friday, December 9, 2005 at Community General Hospital. Hedwig was born May 16, 1911 in Dresden, Germany, the daughter of Oscar F. and Flora P. (Hammer) John. She came to the United States in October 1921 and has been a Valley resident of Syracuse since 1937. She was a representative of the Spencer Corset Company for 30 years. Harriette was a 50 year member of Onondaga Valley Presbyterian Church where she was past Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Teacher and involved in their Christian Education Program. She was a member of Valley VIP's, Onondaga Hill Senior Center Bridge Group, Syracuse Squadronettes where she was Skipper for two terms, Syracuse Numismatic Club, Syracuse Mismatic Club, Auxiliary at Van Duyn Home & Hospital, volunteer at Community General Hospital and Brampton Road Home Bureau. She was past President and Treasurer for Valley Capers Bowling League and was a poll worker for the Onondaga County Board of Elections until 2004. Harriette was a lifetime gardener, helping to establish Syracuse "Adopt-A-Lot" Program at Heath Park. She was predeceased by her husband, Norman in 1994. Harriette is survived by her son, John (Mary Lou) Rohner of Camillus; two granddaughters, Susan Rohner of Owings Mills, MD and Jennifer (Tim) Groth of Camillus and several cousins.
