Obituary of Carol Louise Clancy

Carol Louise Clancy, 92, formerly of Syracuse, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 17th with her loving family at her side. She loved and served the Lord for over 70 years. Her life is an example of the goodness and faithfulness of God. Carol was born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 27, 1928 to Paul E. Ford and Elsie K. Ford. She was a graduate of Syracuse Central High School in 1945. She was married to Rev. Robert A. Clancy (deceased) in 1951 who was a pastor in the Christian Missionary Alliance Church. She was a loving and devoted mother to her two daughters, Liz and Sharon. Carol holds a BA in Zoology, a MS in Special Education, and a CAS in Special Education Administration all from Syracuse University. She was a special education teacher in the Syracuse City School District from 1966 to 1985. Carol served on the board of directors for the Centers for Nature Education at Baltimore Woods. She had been a member of the Council on Exceptional Children, Teachers of the Mentally Handicapped, and Alpha Omega Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a member of the Syracuse Alliance Church and served as a Sunday school teacher of young adults with special needs. She also volunteered at Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) for many years. She would often host international students from Syracuse University in her home and volunteered at Hendrix Chapel luncheons for international students. Her joys were her family, vacationing at Long Beach Island, NJ, and helping & serving others. She loved cooking, baking, gardening, cross country skiing, and her German Shepherd dogs. She was an avid SU Sports fan.

She is predeceased by her parents Paul E. Ford and Elsie K. Ford; her sister Shirley K. Dunn; her husband Rev. Robert A. Clancy.

She is survived by her two daughters, Sharon (David) Keegan of Marcellus, NY and Elizabeth (William) Weiss of Orchard Park, NY; six grandchildren David (Rebeca) Keegan, Rachael (Michael) White, Amanda Keegan, Jessica Weiss, William Weiss III, Casey Keegan; and three great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, July 22nd from 6 to 8 PM at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 4612 S. Salina St., Syracuse, NY 13205.  Services will be private.
