Obituary of Ronald V. Quinn

Ronald V. Quinn, 66, passed away suddenly on November 23, 2021 at his home in the Valley. He was born in Syracuse in January 1955 to the late John Quinn, Jr. and Janine (Gardner) Quinn Ferris. Ron was affectionately known as “Butterball” in his formative years. He was very active in sports, loved hunting, and enjoyed socializing at Van Duyn Park. He worked for his father and brother painting houses in the summer months throughout high school and college.

Ron graduated from Bishop Ludden HS and then from SUNY Canton/SUNY Plattsburg with a degree in Marketing. During college he was active in a Fraternity. He was an avid reader - reading up to four books a week. He enjoyed fishing, visiting friends at Rooters and Pfohls, and going to the family camp in Belfort.

Ron worked in Sales and Management for computer and software companies in Florida, Arizona, Texas, New Jersey, and California- before finally coming back to Syracuse. He was employed at Sutherland Global Services in the Galleries in Downtown Syracuse for 18 years as Sales Manager, then Site Director. He oversaw day to day functionality of the site, and managed over 1000 employees.

Along with his parents, Ron is preceded in death by his: sisters, Denise Dever and Michele Quinn Romano (also her fiancé, Jefferey Hamilton, Sr.); and nephew, Trevor Quinn. Surviving are: his brother, David (Deborah) Quinn; sister, Patrice Quinn David; brother-in-law Doug Dever; step father, Warren Farris; one niece; several nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Per Ron’s wishes, there will be no services at this time. An Irish Celebration of Life Party will be announced in the Spring. Consider memorial donations in Ron’s name to: www.unitedway.org
