Obituary of Gene Arnold Neu

Gene A. Neu, 86, of LaFayette, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on November 15, 2021.

He served in the Navy during the Korean War, and spent time on the carrier USS Ticonderoga. Gene retired from the NYS Highway Dept. after 34 years of employment. He deeply enjoyed playing the accordion with his band, The Valley Ramblers. Gene operated the Little York Hotel; and was an excellent chef. Together with his late wife, Joan, they raised three wonderful sons, and a very special granddaughter whom they loved as their own child.

Gene is predeceased by: his parents, Frank and Helen Neu; and wife, Joan K. (Shute). Surviving are: sons, Ronald (Laureen Falzo-Neu), Randy (Betsy), and Rick (Dottie) Neu; Joelle Neu (Walt Kopley); Julie (Bobby) Lonigro; siblings Doug Neu, and Judy (Leon) Hekiert; many grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday December 4 from 11 am to 3 pm at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, LaFayette. A memorial service will follow at 3 pm.
