Obituary of Jane Rice

Jane Rice, a resident of Las Vegas, NV since 2000, died peacefully in her home on September 18, 2021 at the age of 76 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jane is survived by her sons, John J. (Kathy) Rice of Cicero, NY and Richard (April) Palmer of Custer KY; grandson, John WI Rice of Cicero, NY; and brother, Stanley Lemko of Dallas Texas . She is predeceased by her husband John W. Rice; father, Joseph Lemko; brothers, Edward and Leonard Lemko.

Jane was born in Syracuse NY on June 7th 1945 to Joseph and Tessie Lemko. She was a graduate of North Syracuse High School.  For most of her adult life she owned several Mobil Oil convenience store franchises with her husband. Later after moving to Las Vegas she was employed by Walgreens.

Jane was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She was also loved by many friends who often found her frank and straight forward demeanor comforting. Being an excellent listener, she often was turned to by friends and family for advice. She was never known to sugar coat and she always said exactly what she thought. She enjoyed the outdoors and gardening as well as occasionally going to the casino for bingo or slot machine play. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were privileged to have known her.

A burial service is scheduled for 10:30am on October 23, 2021 at North Syracuse Cemetery. Father Dennis Walker of St. Rose will officiate.
