Obituary of Theresa M. Ryan

Theresa M. Ryan, 66 of Otisco, passed away on August 15, at home surrounded by family. She was born August 27, 1954 in Cortland, NY to the late Patricia and Edwin Kehrer. She married Alexander L. Ryan on January 26, 1974.

 

Theresa was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, who so enjoyed her family and friends.  Her kindness, generosity and thoughtfulness were felt by many, especially around her welcoming kitchen table and always full coffee pot. She was a graduate of Tully Central High School, where she attended BOCES and received her Cosmetology license. Theresa was a beloved hairdresser for many years. She began her career at the Ritz in Cortland, before opening Dutch Hill Beauty Shop in her home.

 

After closing her beauty shop, Theresa spent many years as a successful Tupperware consultant, which she truly enjoyed. In addition to her Tupperware career, she worked at the Victory Market/Great American, Dean Witter, Song Mountain, Labrador Mountain, Alliance Bank and Onondaga County Board of Elections for the Town of Otisco. Within the community, Theresa was active with the Otisco Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, where she served as a past President. Theresa enjoyed baking, making cookies with her grandchildren, sewing, summers by the pool, and more recently winters in Florida.   

 

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Alexander “Ike” Ryan; her daughters, Stacy (Joseph Halovich) Ryan-Gillham of Georgia and Kelly (Andrew) Zaneski of Massachusetts, as well as her grandchildren, Ryan and Justin Gillham, Alexander, William, and Lauren Zaneski; her siblings John (Cindy) Kehrer, William (Susan) Kehrer, Jean (Steven) Reed; and several nieces and nephews.  

 

Graveside service will be Saturday, August 21, 2021, 11AM at the Vesper Cemetery, Vesper, NY.  Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Lafayette, NY entrusted with arrangements.
