Obituary of Alexander Evans

Alexander Evans, 92, of Syracuse’s Valley Section, passed away peacefully at the home of his son and daughter in law with family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.  Alex was born in Syracuse to Macedonian immigrant parents, Nicholas and Theodora Evans.  He was in the United States Army during the Korean War serving in the 747 Amphibious Tractor Battalion and the 6014 Medical Detachment at Camp Cooke near Lompoc, California. After returning from service, he was employed at General Electric for 36 years, retiring in 1988.  In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family, grandsons and working in his yard.

He is predeceased by his sisters, Eleanor E. Cassell and Katherine Raymish.

He is survived by two sons, Dean (Kathryn) Evans of Westvale and Dale (Sharon) Evans of Pompey; grandsons, Jordan and Marc Evans both of Syracuse; former wife, Patricia Miller of Tully; and several nieces and nephews.
