Donnie Jones

“A Gentle Giant”

Donnie was just 62 years old at the time of his death on the night of Wednesday, June 3, 2020.

Donnie was preceded in death by both of his parents Artie Jones and Louise Wright-Jones; brother, John Trotter and sister, Rosemary Jones.

Donnie is survived by his daughter, Aesha Jones and two grandchildren, Niyasia Jones and Melvin Grayson of Rochester, NY.  His siblings, David Starling(Pelma) of Syracuse NY, Jimmie Thomas(Brigit)of Heidelberg, Germany, twin brother Ronnie Jones of Syracuse, NY, and sister Sandra Jones of Reston, VA.  Aunts, Roberta Jones, of Syracuse, NY and Louella Knighton of Columbus, GA; Uncles Ozell Jones and Benjamin Starling.  Donnie has several nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Donnie served in the US Army and worked for the Veterans Hospital for a time.

One thing that Donnie enjoyed most of all, was cooking and sharing with his family and many friends.  The one thing that Donnie asked for when you came for a meal - was to come with an empty stomach.  

Donnie will be greatly missed.
