Obituary of Charles F. LaDuca

Charles “Chuck” LaDuca, 61, of Syracuse, passed away unexpectedly at camp in the Poconos, May 1, 2020.

**UPDATE** A memorial service to celebrate Chuck's life has been scheduled for Saturday July 24, 2021 at 11 am, at Atonement Lutheran Church on W. Glen Ave in Syracuse. Following the service, there will be a special ceremony to dedicate the Community Room in Joslyn Court 2 to Chuck's Memory. Masks will be required to be worn during the service.

He was born to the late Joseph F. and Jean (Berger)  LaDuca in Bethlehem, PA. He graduated from Freedom High School, Northampton County Area Community College and Kutztown University with a BS degree. He attended the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, where he met his wife Kathy. He worked at Spaulding PRAY Residence Corps for a number of years; and then worked for Onondaga County Child Protective Services, retiring as a supervisor this year. He received the McMahon Ryan Child Advocacy Center Katherine Senska Hass Distinguished Service to Abused Children Award in 2019. He served on the Spaulding PRAY Board for several years. He was active in the Valley Men’s Club as a Past President and was elected Man of the Year in 2008. He was a member of the Atonement Housing Corporation Board of Directors. He surprised us all by going Over the Edge 4 Kids in the McMahon Ryan Fundraiser in August of 2018. He loved spending time at his camp, fishing, feeding the bears and other wildlife, and running a food tent at Valley Men’s Club Field Days!

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Kathy (Logan) LaDuca; sons Kenneth and Jeffrey; brother David (Cindy Duarte) LaDuca; aunts; uncles; and cousins.
