Obituary of Gilda Marie Sayles

Gilda Marie Sayles, 91, of LaFayette, passed away peacefully on November 6, in her own home, with loved ones at her bedside. Gilda and her loving husband, Ty, marked their 70th Anniversary one day prior to her passing.  

She was the daughter of Pasquale and Michelina Campolieta, and the youngest of seven children. Gilda was a proud graduate of Vocational High School, where she was the Senior Class Treasurer. She was a devoted member of St. James Parish for over 50 years. Gilda had a long and successful career in the accounting department at Community General Hospital. But for Gilda, family was everything. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Gilda was predeceased by her siblings: Patsy, Joseph, Michael, Fay and Jenny.  She is survived by: her husband Ty Sayles; her children: Eddie ("Kiki"), Sally (Sam) Mason, T.R. (Sheila) and Scott (JoAnne); and sister, Dinny. Gilda also leaves behind 11 adoring grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and dozens of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 9 at 11:00 am, at Our Lady of Hope Church, 4845 South Salina Street, Syracuse.
