Margie Doyle

Obituary of Margie E. Doyle

Margie E. (Grevelding, Keeler) Doyle, 82, of LaFayette, died Sunday, October 27th. Margie loved her family, gardening, travelling, and her home. She and Wally enjoyed snowmobiling and even rode around on mopeds when they visited her sister Hazel and brother-in-law Bob wherever they were camping. She worked 22 years in the library at Grimshaw elementary school in LaFayette and loved what she did. She is well remembered by all of “her” students that passed through those doors.

She was a diehard SU men’s basketball fan. She watched every one of their games even if she could only watch it on her IPad. Her favorite place to watch the games and all of March Madness games was sitting at the kitchen table. She never missed a game, not even for dinner! March Madness and Bracket time was something to look forward to and to plan her bracket and miss when it was over.

Margie’s greatest love was spending time with her family whether cooking dinner or hosting the family chicken barbeque poolside. She swam in her pool every day in the summer and participated twice a week in a swimming exercise class all winter where she made lasting friendships. She also bragged that she was the youngest lady in class. Margie’s garden was her pride and joy. Everyone family, friends, neighbors and even the owners of her favorite donut place in East Syracuse were welcome to all the veggies they could eat all summer long. Reading and puzzles were her favorite hobbies and her beloved great grandchildren her favorite puzzle partners. Margie was so very proud of her family each and every one of them.

But most important of all to Margie was that her family stay close even though she is gone. She was forever thankful that her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren lived so close to home. She will be forever in our hearts and missed every day.

She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Edna Grevelding and first husband, Elmer C. Keeler.

Surviving is her husband of 57 years, Wally Doyle, son Michael (Debbie) Doyle of Syracuse, Daughters, Lori (Beef) Doyle of South Onondaga and Lisa (John) Doyle-Miller of Oswego; seven grandchildren: Amanda (Eric) Marais, Matthew (Brian) Burr, Benjmin (Courtney) Burr, Joshua (Kristina Noto) Miller, Erin Doyle (Michael Hannan), Abaigeal Doyle, Morgan Doyle; two great grandchildren: Sean Marais, Schuylar Marais; and brother, Bill (Martha) Grevelding of Jamesville.

As per her request, there will be no calling hours.
