Obituary of Gerald L. Eckrich

Gerald L. Eckrich, Aka Jerry, 'Pops', 70 of Tully, Ny passed away peacefully on August 24th at the VA Medical Center in Syracuse, Ny.

Gerald grew up in Mt. Vernon,  Ny then lived in Madison, Ny before enlisting in the Army. 

Gerald proudly served his country from 1969 through 1973. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam war which he earned recognitions and military honors. 

He continued his career as a heating and air technician. He also did plumbing and electrical work for numerous companies through the years. 

He is predeceased by his parents Robert and Ethel Eckrich, his sister Joan Havener, his great nephew Kaden Eckrich. 

He is survived by his wife of 45 years Darlene (Kemp) Eckrich,his son Daniel and his wife(Amanda) Eckrich of Syracuse, Ny, His daughter April Eckrich and her significant other Felipe Rodriguez of Roanoke, Va, his grandchildren Alyssia, Adrianna, Zachary,  Juliana, Siblings Robert Eckrich of Winter Park, Fl, Michael Eckrich of Clovis, Ca, Penny Eckrich Mintel of Madison, Ny, Violet Eckrich of Madison, Ny and numerous neices and nephews.

He was a devoted and loving father and husband. He always knew what to say with a smile and will be forever remembered for his contagious laugh and funny jokes. 

He had a great passion for nature and growing his garden of vegetables and his sunflowers. He enjoyed cookouts at his home and sharing stories about his life with loved ones. 

He made us very aware of his presence on the morning after his passing on August 25th as the sun shined directly on the Sunflower at his bedroom window that was the only one of his flowers to blossom. Making us aware he will always be with us.
