Obituary of Richard F. Finch

Richard F. Finch, 70, of LaFayette, passed away peacefully at home, on August 9, 2019. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorinda (Field) Finch; daughter Melissa Finn; son Richard Finch II; two brothers: Jerry (Theresa) Finch of Fabius, James (Sue) Finch of Myrtle Beach; one sister, Judith Sullivan of Manlius; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents: Edwin and Janis Finch; and one sister Dianna (Finch) Holbrook. Richard graduated from Fabius-Pompey Central School in 1967, and went on to work at ACME Markets in the Store Operations Department; until they shut down. He then worked in customer service at Bristol Labs, in Syracuse, until being transferred to Evansville, Indiana in 1986. There, he worked for Bristol  Myers Squibb/Mead Johnson until he retired in 2009. At that time, the family returned home to LaFayette, New York. Family was most important; and Richard loved his country. He was an avid sports fan, especially of Syracuse University basketball and football.  He enjoyed gardening with his son, birdwatching, and being active by travelling and fishing. Richard greatly appreciated all of God’s creations. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 15, from 10 am to 12 noon, at Ballweg and Lunsford Funeral Home, 2584 Field Lane, LaFayette, NY. A funeral service will follow at 12 noon. Interment will be at Pompey Hill Cemetery, on Cemetery Road in Pompey, NY.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s name to: Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool, NY 13088.
