Obituary of Arnold E. Fleming

Arnold “Arnie” Fleming, 81, of LaFayette, NY passed away peacefully at Loretto on November 17, 2018. Arnie was the son of Earl Grant and Anne Bell (Shute) Fleming. Arnie graduated from LaFayette Central School in 1955 where he was involved in sports and music. Early in his career, he worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield of CNY as a programmer/systems analyst in the early days of Data Processing. Here he met and later married his wife Mary Sue “Suzie” (Murphy). He later worked for Agway Insurance and then Pomco Insurance. Arnie was an avid sportsman. A professional Archer in the early days of the sport he was a rep for Hoyt Archery; enjoyed motocross; hunting; fishing; and boating with his wife in Alexandria Bay. 

He is survived by his son, Steven (Shelley) Fleming of North Syracuse; daughter, Lisa (David) Deyo of Liverpool; grandchildren, John, Chris, Laura (Fleming), Suzie and Mike (Deyo); sister-in-law, Ann Kelley of Baldwinsville; step-brother-in-law, Peter (Ann) Bourlier of VA.  

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 23, 2018 at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 2584 Field Lane, LaFayette, NY.  Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Onondaga Valley Cemetery, Syracuse.
