Robert N. Brown, Sr., of Syracuse, NY died Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Crouse Hospital following a brief illness.
A man of many interests, he was most appreciative of being a well-known and respected antiques collector and dealer along with his wife the former Barbara Bex Brown who died in 2014. He and his wife were also extremely well known for the landscaping and gardening around the family home.
Bob was a graduate of Manlius Pebble Hill and St. Bonaventure University. Professionally he was President of BAB Construction in Syracuse who built numerous Catholic Churches in the Syracuse Diocese. Following retirement, for several years he went to work with Oliva Construction as a Site Supervising Foreman. He then went to work at a job he truly loved as housing inspector for the Syracuse Housing Authority. He also had numerous activities including golf, running/walking and just hanging out with his friends. He was a true gentleman who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Emily E. Gallagher who died in 2013.
Surviving are his children, Robert, Jr. (Kim), Fritz (Marianne) Brown, Amy Agnew, Martha (Peter) Gammie, Molly (Stuart) Rainey and Juliet (Carl) Sanfilippo; 15 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
A calling hour will be on Thursday, November 5, 2015 from 9 to 10 a.m. with a Mass of Christian burial to follow immediately at Holy Cross Church, 4112 E. Genesee Street, Syracuse, NY 13214. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt, NY.
